How To Be Excited About Your Day

Do you want to be excited about your day? Do you want to go through your day with enthusiasm? While I still have a lot to improve, I can attest that I’m often excited about my day. As a result, I go through it with enthusiasm and end the day feeling fulfilled.

How could that happen?

Based on my experiences, here is how to be excited about your day :

  1. Have something to be grateful for.
  2. Have something to look forward to.
  3. Manage your energy.

Pretty simple, aren’t they? Let’s take a closer look at them.

1. Have something to be grateful for.

You can’t be excited about your day if you are grumbling. You need to build an attitude of gratitude. To build it, find something to be grateful for and fill your mind with it.

You could start with something simple that you might take for granted, such as living in peace or being healthy. In addition, focus on the positive side of things, even for seemingly bad things that happened. For instance, when something went wrong, focus on the lessons that you can learn from it, not on the downsides. This will put you in a positive frame of mind.

2. Have something to look forward to.

Next, you should have something to look forward to during your day. For instance, when Bill Gates was asked about the one thing that most excites him to start his day, his answer was “learning new things.” That is the thing that he looks forward to.

What is the answer in your case? Having a cause that matters to you will help you a lot here. It will give you a sense of purpose as you go through your day. You will feel excited because you know that what you do matters.

3. Manage your energy.

While the two points above can help you start your day with enthusiasm, they might not be enough to sustain you throughout the day. For this, you need to manage your energy. This includes both your physical and mental energy. Even if you start your day well, without good energy management you would lose your enthusiasm.

In my case, I’ve found exercise to be very helpful. It boosts my physical energy. I didn’t have the habit years ago so I can attest to the difference it makes.

As for your mental energy, you can start with a “quiet time” in the morning to help you stay centered throughout the day. Also, avoid filling your mind with negative thoughts. If someone said something bad to you, take the positive takeaway and move on. Don’t let your mind dwell on the negatives.

Be grateful for something, look forward to something, and manage your energy. Do these and you will be excited about your day.
