[display_name id=”1″]My Personal Best Top 5 ever would include :

Zinedine Zidane- I think he was the most gifted footballer in his generation and possibly of all time because though he lacked any special physical attributes he used what he had and his dribbling, passing, first touch and finishing were world class. He was also the leader of a team and he did what many fail to do by leading a team to a world cup final.

Pele – There’s not much to say about someone who is already regarded as the best of all time but i think he was simply a complete midielder and forward because he was accomplished at nearly everything such as dribbling, finishing, heading, passing etc.

Diego Maradona – He is on my list because with essentially only one foot he did what many could not and he led his team to a world cup final almost single handedly and he also scored one of the greatest and most selfish goals of all time.

Thierry Henry – I know he’s not much to look at now but i believe that when he was at arsenal he was simply the best ever. Those few years he played like a god with the consistency and skill of Pele and the flair and creativity of Maradona. He was an absolutely perfect Forward in every way because he scored goals, created goals, with both feet, his head and he was also a great team captain and a good free kick taker.

Steven Gerrard – I don’t think anyone will agree with this addition but i added him because i’ve watched him all my life and i’ve seen his weaknesses and his strengths and i think that had Benitez been fired immediately after winning the UEFA champions league and someone with a brain had been put in charge of the club then Liverpool would be the reigning force in England and Europe. Gerrard himself is talented because he has something that no more than maybe 10, 15 players of every generation has and that is star quality. He can change a game all by himself and though that has faded with age he is still the best central midfielder because he gives 100%, he can score from afar, he can score with his head, he’s a good finisher, he’s a superb crosser, he’s a decent dribbler, he’s a good tackler, i could go one but i’ve said too much already. Simply, you can’t appreciate what he’s done unless you really look with a level head and without an opinion.

My top 5 right now would be:

Steven Gerrard – (Look above)

Lionel Messi – Messi is essentialy a regeneration of Maradona with less outside problems and a better team around him.

Didier Drogba – There are 4 types of strikers, Poachers, Target Men, Forwards and SUPERSTRIKERS!:). Drogba is a superstriker because he can do at a world class level all of the above. He can consistently finish, he can create, and he can be a link between the midfield and attack. As of the last two seasons he has risen to prominence because he can create goals out of nothing, he’s not selfish and he cam score from set pieces. I suppose it help that he plays for a well functioning team as well.

Fernando Torres – Torres is also a Superstriker though not to the extent that Drogba is but if Torres were always fit then he would be better at being a Poacher and a Forward than Drogba but seeing as he is never fit i’ll just have to wait.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Though Ronaldo is money loving fox he is still greatly talented and this is obvious because Man Utd miss him and Madrid love him. He’s kind of a Superstriker but he not too much of a Target Man ever so he kind of doesn’t fit the role.

What are your personal top 5 sports moments of all time?Mine are:

4. Larry Johnson’s 4 pt play

2. The Tyree Helmet Catch.

1. Aaron Boone.

[display_name id=”1″]Mine:

– Pickett to Williams in 2003 Apple Cup (UW vs WSU football)
-Marques Tuiasasopo rushing for 200 yards and passing for 300 against eventual Pac-10 champ Stanford (1999)
-Shawn Kemp’s “Lister Blister” dunk in the win game 4 against Golden State in 1992 playoffs
-Gary Payton and Karl Malone getting into a fight with Malone getting thrown out in a playoff game. GP had 35 pts, 12 ast, 10 reb in the game as well.
-Edgar Martinez’s double down the line against the Yankees in Game 5 of the 1995 ALDS, ending with Griffey Jr sliding into home to win the game and series.

I witnessed the first 4 live, which is part of why they are on the list. My next favorite live moment is the missed field goal at the end of the UW vs Oregon State game in 2000. UW held on for a 33-30 victory. At the end of the year, UW finished ranked 3rd and OSU ranked 4th in the country.
