Bhagavad Gita 4.1-2

In this first verse of Chapter 4 we find a summarized history of the Bhagavad-gita, traced from a remote time when Lord Krishna delivered it to the royal order of all planets, beginning with the sun-god, Vivasvan. So the Bhagavad-gita is not a speculative treatise for the insignificant mundane scholar but a standard book of knowledge coming down from time immemorial, and thus it has to be accepted as it is, from the disciplic succession.
