I published Life Optimizer’s first post on September 7, 2006. That’s 15 years ago! Wow, time flies.
Back then, I was a graduate student, and I decided to start a blog on personal effectiveness. I was inspired by the race to optimize performance in computer science, and I thought that something similar could be done to optimize our lives. I was also inspired by the possibility of reaching a worldwide audience after reading Thomas Friedman’s The World Is Flat.
From these inspirations, Life Optimizer was born.
It was a humble beginning. For months, there was no reader. I felt like speaking to an empty room. But I kept going and kept writing post after post. Then I got invited to a blog network in early 2007 and the blog started to grow.
I remember the sense of responsibility I felt when Life Optimizer reached 100 subscribers. I thought to myself, I can no longer write just what I want; I have a responsibility to provide value to these people. That motivated me to improve the quality of my posts.
In 2009, I quit my day job and I haven’t had one since. The freedom of time to live creatively is what I appreciate the most about my current lifestyle. I feel fulfilled realizing my potential to help others.
It wasn’t a smooth ride, though. There have been ups and downs along the way. But it’s been 15 years now and I still write at Life Optimizer. I’m still passionate about optimizing lives. I’m still excited to help people live fulfilling lives. In fact, I feel a level of clarity and focus about the mission that I haven’t had before. I’m optimistic about the future and I believe that the best is yet to come.
Thank you for being with me on this journey. I appreciate it. I hope I can better serve you in the future.
